I found this take on 'post-consumerist/take the pill be okay' society to be riveting, if not a bit close to home.
An excellent interview with Keith Richards.
A friend had an extra front-row ticket to the Foreigner/Styx/Def Leppard concert last night in Phoenix, so I tagged along. Not a bad show overall (despite having woken up at 3:30am that day and near to passing out). Foreigner- eh...JukeBox Hero, could this song be any longer? Styx- freakin' good...Tommy Shaw, everyone, brought the house down in serious old school rock-n-roll style (with lots of shwag thrown out to the audience). Def Leppard- good, but they need to fire their sound guy...for some songs, it sounded like 2 disparate songs were being spliced together (and Joe Elliott's voice has seen better days as is). That said- Rick Allen is incredible, and amazing to see in person. Almost feel bad for sleeping through 1/2 their set. And now a proud owner of a 'Love Bytes' tee, thanks Jim (terrible song, sweet smartass gesture).
Some pix (skipping Foreigner here) below, drunk people included. Enjoy!

Love this site- Musicovery: interactive web radio.
One of the very- very- few reasons I've ever wanted to visit NY (specifically, Manhattan), CBGB's is shutting it's doors and moving to Sin City.
May that landlord never get a tenant ever again.
Coachella has jumped the shark.
Yes, there are some good bands involved, and I'm sure it's still (maybe) worth the trek- if you live in CA, AZ, or NV. Compared to past years- Bauhaus, Pixies, BRMC, Bright Eyes, R.E.M., heelll--ooo-
Well, you know what they say about pictures:
Colonel Blimp - Videos by Athlete, Muse, the Thrills, and more, oh my!

My honey recorded an 'Old 97's' tune (not for profit or anything) last night- changed the wording around so it has my name in it-
Vocals/harmony are all him, guitar work is his bandmate Patrick's.

If you happen to live in the Phoenix area and are looking for something to do this Thursday and/or Friday night, I recommend you check out these guys.
The Clayton Chronicles play tomorrow night at the Paper Heart in downtown Phx, and at PI (old Boston's, scroll down for address) in Tempe Friday night.
A few tunes on their site, also here. The clips aren't bad, but they are 10 times better live.
And I'm not just saying this because the keyboardist is my boyfriend, I swear! :)
Take some time out and listen to the Man in Black today.
I like to think he's been reunited with his wife, and feeling no pain right now.
